Why You Should Climb the Mountains of Your Life
In life there will be many forks in the road, at which you have two paths to choose from.
There is a road that leads up the mountain and a level road which disappears around the back of the mountain.
The road up the mountain is a steep one, if you choose this road you will encounter fear, resistance, anxiety, have many new experiences and encounter risks.
But know that you will never travel it alone, there will always be people along the way to help you, guide you, encourage you and support you.
You can also choose to go back down at any point, that is a perfectly legitimate choice.
If/when you make it all the way up this road you will see things as you have never seen them before, the view from the top will be life-changing. The quality of your life will have improved dramatically for having taken this road and made that climb, despite the difficulties.
Whichever road you choose to take, you will have to bring your baggage with you, it's ok we all have it, just throw all that stuff in a trailer or a backpack and drag it up with you. Don't let it be the thing that prevents you from climbing.
You may also choose to take the level road, that leads around the back of the mountain. What they don't tell you about this road when you start on it is that it just goes around and around the base of the mountain. It brings you right back to where you started at the fork in the road.
Some people may choose to keep traveling this road, many times. It is after all, comfortable and safe. That's ok too.
The steep road is no doubt harder to climb, but it is SO worth it. If you choose it you will grow in ways you never imagined and develop as person.
Whichever road you choose it's alright, that's where you're at right now. Perhaps you are gearing up for the climb.
I urge you, climb the mountain, whatever yours is, however many you have. Just start, you won't have to climb it alone.
On the other side of fear, lies freedom. And the view from the top makes it all worthwhile.
This was explained to me by my friend and colleague, who writes on her blog thesamemountain she was taught it by her mentor and colleague. It has a way of getting shared around.
So share it with those you love..
How have you climbed your mountains? How is the view? Are you still on the ring road? What's stopping you?
