“My partner and I had just found out we were pregnant with our first child and I knew I wasn’t looking after myself as well as I could, so I booked in with Sophie when I was only 12 weeks pregnant. "Before I came to see Sophie I was feeling quite self-conscious about my weight. When I weighed myself I was shocked that I had put on so many kilos without even really realising it. I was feeling very run down, tired and quite hormonal. I had also put on fat stores where I hadn't in the past and I really didn't like it. When I came to see Sophie I was very motivated to make some big changes because I knew it was going to take some effort to drop the weight and change my lifestyle. Having said that, I didn't feel I was unhealthy and I think the biggest thing I got out of Sophie's session was just how much more conscious and aware I needed to be in terms of my food intake.
I literally cannot believe how making conscious changes to my eating habits has changed my weight and wellbeing so quickly and significantly. I have already lost almost 7 kilos since July and it has all been through healthier choices rather than exercise. I did decide to do my own experiment where I wouldn't embark on any regular exercise to see if the food changes would make a difference. And it has been huge. With two young children and a small business I didn't want the pressure of having to do moderate exercise every day to make change, as I felt realistic in not being able to fit that in. I gave up wine for at least two months and now drink very rarely, and usually only one glass. This has had a huge impact. I drink more than 2litres of water a day and now notice it when I am dehydrated and haven't had my quota. My vegetable intake has increased substantially and this variety has probably had the biggest impact. I am also Incredibly conscious about sugar. We just don't need it. I now even bake with honey, rice malt syrup or nothing at all and my kids don't even notice it. It is amazing how we can condition our bodies to expect certain things. Sophie was very helpful with highlighting habits and developing better habits. Our session was thorough, with follow up information and great "swaps" ideas. Sophie was professional, compassionate and also very confident that I would see changes quickly. I had full faith in her and I am so glad I went to see her because without her support and guidance I think I would be finding it difficult to shift the weight because I actually didn't even know where to start. I didn't know what I needed to change. I highly recommend her service. What she had guided me with has of course filtered down to my family and I feel empowered to make conscious choices for our boys. Before taking Conscious Eating, I had been struggling with just starting a healthier lifestyle. Or maybe I should say, restarting a healthier lifestyle. I knew some things and had tried working them into my life, but felt overwhelmed with what I felt was just too big a change. I had too much weight to lose, too many bad habits and it was too late to make up for a lifetime of poor decisions. "Before my health + wellness coaching sessions with Sophie I was constantly disappointed and hard on myself about the fact that I could not go back to the way I once looked. "Almost a year prior to taking Conscious Eating, I decided to go vegan. Although this dramatically improved my health, I still felt tired and run down with low immunity and cold/flu type symptoms, I knew something was missing in my diet so I took this course, hoping to find it. And find it I did! The 7-day food diary really increased my awareness of the effects that certain foods were having on my body. As a result I have completely removed processed foods with hidden additives from my diet. Keeping the food diary also highlighted weaknesses in my existing meal structure that were leading to noticeable periods of lethargy and mood variability. "I came to see Sophie after I had 3 major operations and had recently started new medication. I was feeling repaired and pain free but also sluggish, unfit and lacking in motivation to value myself enough to pay attention to my body’s food and exercise needs.
