Desiring Happiness? How to Be Happy and Well
I believe everyone deep down wishes to be both happy and well. Acknowledgement of this commonness links me to you, you to me and us to everyone else we share the world with.
It is our shared human experience. We desire to be happy, we seek happiness, we encounter suffering, we experience loss, we are all connected to each other by these things. The Dalai Lama says that is our shared ground over which we can find something in common with everyone on the planet. I suffer, you suffer. I wish to be happy, you wish to be happy. I am human, you are human.
So how do we achieve this sometimes elusive state of happiness?

I have found that regularly engaging in these practices, most of them daily. I feel connected, relaxed and happy with who I am and where I'm at in my life. At least most of the time.
Some books on happiness I have enjoyed:
The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin
The Happiness Trap by Russ Harriss (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama
Radical Acceptance, embracing your life with the heart of a buddha by Tara Brach
